Back in February we wrote an article about the then novice runner Johnny Moore, who was training for the London Marathon in order to raise money for Project Trust, an educational charity which specialises in overseas volunteering placements. We promised updates but due to an intense training regime, they gradually slowed to a stop as the event moved closer.

We're delighted to say however, that Johnny completed the race in a very respectable time and would sincerely like to thank everyone who contributed to his efforts and his charity. He has also written a fantastic and fascinating blog about his experience, which you can read here.

At the outset, Johnny had set himself 2 targets: complete his first ever marathon and raise £10,000 for Project Trust, a charity for which he is a trustee, and has been involved with for over 25 years. Success on both counts. To use his words, he has been "blown away" by the actual total raised to date. At the time of writing his blog, donations had hit £17,000 but this afternoon, he confirmed they had now reached £18,000. With money still coming in, he is basically just £2,000 away from doubling his initial target. Johnny has pointed out that this is, in no small part, down to the donations of some very generous Park Club and Hogarth members, to whom he is truly grateful.

Johnny is equally grateful to the team that helped him achieve his other target; completing the race, namely our Group Wellness Manager Terry Rodham, Jade Rodham, Nathan Carter, and his brilliantly supportive wife, Sarah "for putting up with hours and hours of me disappearing on training runs and feeding me so much healthy and delicious food along the way".

So, thank you all from Johnny and if you would like to help him boost his total, it's not too late to donate at uk.virginmoneygiving.com/johnnymoore4projecttrust.
