HOGARTH HEALTH CLUB SHORTLISTED FOR NATIONAL FITNESS AWARDS ‘HEALTH CLUB OF THE YEAR’ EVENT.

A couple of months ago we were nominated for Health Club of the Year. We submitted pictures and information which, was followed by an inspection and interviews. We made a shortlist of 6 clubs from the length and breadth of the country. This was an opportunity to win an award and say thank you to our loyal members.

On Friday we sent a delegation to the National Fitness Awards in Leicester to represent Hogarth. The event was being held in the Athena in Leicester which, was originally designed in 1936  by Robert Arthur Bullivant as an Odeon Cinema. The venue represented one of the largest, most extravagant buildings within the region compromising of one cinema screen seating 3000 guests. It was then subdivided into 4 screens in the 1960’s and remained closed throughout the 1990’s. The building was then restored to its former glory retaining many of its original features.

A number of awards were announced and then ours came up. The whole table sat, holding their breath, pulse rates quickening. “And the winner is …… Double Tree by Hilton Cadbury House in Congresbury, North Somerset.”

It was a shocking blow but we were up against some huge clubs in the countryside who had acres and acres of space.

Maybe we can bring it home for our members next year?
