Martin's 4x4x48 Running Challenge

Hello Everyone

On 05/03/2021 I will attempt the 4x4x48 running challenge, completing 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours, inspired by ex‐Navy Seal and ultramarathon extraordinaire David Goggins.

David Goggins is the author of motivational bestseller Can’t Hurt Me, an autobiographical account of the many challenges he has overcome in his life including a childhood overshadowed by domestic violence, his many experiences of racial prejudice, passing the gruelling selection process for the US Navy Seals and going on to become one of the worlds most successful ultramarathon runners.

While there will only ever be one David Goggins, his unique, dark and inspiring approach to pushing boundaries and unlocking potential has been something that I have tried to harness in my own training and use to reflect on my own abilities to improve my fitness and achieve my goals.

So, at 16:00 hours on Friday 5th March I will begin my own 4x4x48 challenge running 4 miles every 4 hours all the way through to Sunday afternoon. During the challenge I will be taking over the Hogarth Instagram account to share my progress and open a dialogue about what motivates and inspires us. I will also be on hand to answer any health, fitness, and lockdown related questions you may have.

This is new territory for me, I have never completed such a distance within a 48‐hour period and will need to channel my inner Goggins to push past the pain and realize my full potential.
