Pilates represents a unique approach to exercise that develops body awareness, improving and changing the body's postural and alignment habits and increasing flexibility and ease of movement.

Pilates mat work is a series of exercises that are done on the floor. The attention to detail in combining the breath & flow of the movement using the core muscles is the main focus of this class along with alignment, posture, and joint stability. 

Mat work pilates is a challenging workout using  your own body weight and sometimes small pieces of equipment, such as soft balls,  magic circles, bands and weighted tactile balls. You should leave this class feeling more body aware, better aligned and a feeling of well being . 

The essence of Helena's matwork classes are core control, which results from strengthening the deep abdominal and back muscles. This is achieved through a series of interconnected movements, each with a purpose and a breathing pattern. Muscles are used deeply without stress and tension and because of its precise nature, anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, can enjoy and benefit from pilates matwork classes.
