HOGARTH GYMNASIUM NEWS

In our last blog we announced a £.75 million refurbishment of The Hogarth Gym with Technogym equipment. What we were not then able to announce was that this is not only a brand new gymnasium for the Hogarth, but also a brand new line of equipment for Technogym themselves.

So new is the equipment that we won't have iamges, 2 or 3-D walk throughs to show you until after the manufacturers launch in Italy on 4 March 2013. The equipment is locked away in the Technogym Village and incorporates a revolutionary new look, feel and design; this will be the most premium commercial range of equipment Technogym have ever created. So for now, pictured below are 6 Kinesis Stations that are an integral part of the Hogarth gymnasium specification but not part of the brand new line - it's the best I can share with you for now!

In the coming few weeks we will be providing much more detail of the Technogym Wellness System and the many different features and benefits available to you our members. There will be a mood board, layout, and taster pieces of equipment as it becomes available. There will also be more detailed content here on our Blog and in future member email expresses including links to educational videos.

The gymnasium team is scheduling their own training, firstly in the wellness system, then the equipment and then the integration of both -ready to train you. They intend to introduce the Wellness System (superseding the Fitlinxx system we have used for the past 13 years) into the club before the Technogym exercise equipment arrives. This will enable members to get the most from the equipment as quickly as possible. Dates for these will be published here and in the club in due course.

What's coming is very special and will include:

  • innovation & quality
  • high-resolution retina displays with swipe screen technology on cardio and resistant training equipment
  • automatic & bespoke set up of cardio equipment for the ultimate personalised entertainment including 32 TV and radio channels.
  • automatic & bespoke set up of cardio equipment for the ultimate exercise experience
  • the ability for you and your personal trainer to track your exercise in the gym and on the go via your choice of data capture on the Technogym Key, the Technogym Wellness key, mobile (iphone and android), and via Cloud Technology (more on that later) the ability to keep in touch and view this on your own mobile, tablet, pc or smart TV

If all of this sounds too much like the Star Ship Enterprise, don't worry, we realise there are those that want bells and whistles and those that don’t. We further appreciate there are those that want personal attention and those that want personal space. On this basis we have chosen a Technogym line that will capture exercise data, indoors and out, provide personalised entertainment system, on-line competitions and more. And, we have the fabulous gymnasium team to help you make the most of it - if you want. Of course, you don't have to use any of this if you don’t want to – rather just appreciate the quality and feel of the equipment and press QUICK START! The choice is yours.

Again for illustrative purposes, here’s a draft of the HOGARTH GYM EQUIPMENT LAYOUT using existing Technogym equipment icons.

PREPARATORY WORKS & TIMINGS

The gymnasium refurbishment process involves not only redecorating, re-flooring, putting in new mood lighting, but also complex Cat 6 cabling requirements to provide fully interactive equipment. This process is well underway with phase 1 and most of phase 2 complete. There are 5 phases in total as per the GYM PHASING PLAN with Phase 2 the biggest and potentially the most challenging.

Wherever possible, the equipment will be linked up as normal, but where, for example, equipment isn’t linked up to Fitlinxx as normal, please speak to a member of the gymnasium team who can help with hard copy programme print outs, manual logging etc. As above, we intend to introduce the Wellness System into the club before the Technogym exercise equipment arrives, so to ensure a speedy and smooth transition. Parts of the gym will re-open initially with the existing equipment, but we will, where possible, introduce aspects of the new Technogym system. The total refurbishment and installation of all of the new equipment into the gym is scheduled to be fully completed by mid April.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for being so understanding whilst we forge ahead to complete this amazing development. We will of course continue to strive to keep noise and any inconvenience to a minimum to enable you to continue working out.
