Member Is First Man To Travel The World In Largest Ever Production Motorcycle!

MarkH

I am Mark Holmes.

On 1st. April 2017 I set off from London to become the first man in the world, to ride the world’s largest capacity production motorcycle, the 2.3 litre Triumph Rocket III, around the World.

This is not purely a self-indulgent adventure. In fact, far from it.

I have added a few practical changes and cosmetic enhancements to my Triumph Rocket III, to me help attract even more attention wherever I go. I want maximum impact to deliver two messages to the world.

One:                With a smile on your face, RIDE A MOTORCYCLE; it can be so much fun.

Two:                Please STOP SMOKING; you are all killing yourselves.

I also have four more passions to tell the world about:

    •    Triumph Motorcycles. I support the Triumph Motorcycle brand wherever I go, engaging with motorcyclists and aspirants, as well as dreaming adventurers. Whether on the side of a road, at a motorcycle dealership, at an event, or in an auditorium, I have passion to share.

    •    The Ted Simon Foundation. I was at the inaugural meeting in 2011, and share their belief that individuals of good will, moving among foreign cultures and making themselves vulnerable to the beliefs and customs of strangers, have great importance in promoting world understanding, and even more so when they can communicate it. I want to try and understand more about the beauties, mysteries and tragedies of our world through my adventure, and allow my passion for people, places and history to grow. I have love to spare and share with the world. The Ted Simon foundation appoints and supports Jupiter’s Travellers to achieve these goals

    •    The Royal Geographical Society is the UK's learned society and professional body for geography, founded in 1830. They are a world leader in advancing geography and supporting its practitioners in the UK and across the world. The Society works with a wide range of public audiences to raise awareness of geography and its relevance to our lives. They aim to inspire people to become more informed about our changing world and the challenges it faces.  I am a Fellow of the Society, and support their work on my journey.

    •    Chelsea Football Club. I acknowledge that football in general, as well as the club specifically, has the ability to engage and unite huge audiences around the world. From youth football’s ability to unite communities, to the first team’s ability to unite the world, I want to share my passion and create advocates. I am a Member of Chelsea Football Club and have lived near their home, Stamford Bridge, for many years.

As I travel I will be submitting creative content to publications not just covering motorcycling, but also travel, geography, football and cancer charities.

I will be filming the trip in broadcast quality 4K video, and stills, as well as complementary sound recording equipment, in order to produce a stunning and gripping documentary. A book will follow in due course.

My route is broadly south-east from London. Of particular interest to me are Turkey, Iran, India, Nepal, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Indonesia (where my son Oliver and his wife Fina live). After Australia and New Zealand I will cross to South America, heading south to Antartica, before northwards in a zig-zag or two before reaching Alaska.
