Reformer Pilates FAQs
UPDATED 11/03/2025
FREE Taster Session
From 24 Feb there will be one free taster available per member. Taster sessions will consist of an introduction to the Allegro 2 Reformer. This is the Hogarth Health Clubs chosen Reformer by Balanced Body who are leading manufacturers of Pilates apparatus and have been crafting Pilates apparatus for over 40 years.
Where can I view the timetable?
You can find our Reformer Pilates timetable here. These are paid for classes and will commence from 24th February.
How do I book?
Members can book their class via the members' online booking portal. Please speak to the Club Reception if you haven’t used this before.
What if I have never done Pilates or Reformer Pilates before or I’m an expert?
If you’ve completed our health care declaration statement / PARQ and you don’t know of any reason you shouldn’t exercise, then our teachers will be able to gently introduce absolute beginners to reformer Pilates at The Hogarth. Similarly, the introduction/taster sessions are suitable for ALL abilities – including athletes and experts, although our formal programme commencing later in February/March will provide choices for different kinds of Reformer Classes, including generic classes such as Essentials, Stretch & Flow, and Dynamic.
What do I need to bring with me?
For your first class, we recommend arriving with enough time to check in at the main reception desk, store your bag in the main changing room, and find the studio. Grip socks are required for our classes and are available for purchase or can be borrowed for your first class. We also recommend bringing water to stay hydrated.
Where is the Studio?
Please check in before your class at The Hogarth Club main reception. From there, you can follow the signposted route down the corridor to the end by the pool, go up the stairs into and through The Hogarth MediSpa. Take a right turn at the end of the corridor and, before heading back down the stairs, take a final right turn into the new Studio.
What will the classes cost?
After your FREE taster, classes will be chargeable at the time of booking either online OR via Club Reception. Classes are deliberately kept small, with a maximum of six participants, to ensure safety and quality. Members will enjoy a significantly discounted rate of £20 per 50-minute class, with further discounts for block bookings.
During the launch period, a further introductory offer of approximately 33% will be available. These must be taken up before 31st March 2025 - now ended.
Issues with payment?
PLEASE NOTE: we do not accept American Express
What kind of classes will be available?
Introductory sessions will always be available and part of the main timetable when it becomes bookable from 16th February and starts from 24th February 2025. Additionally, a variety of reformer classes will be provided by our expert team under the banners of “Essentials”, “Stretch & Flow”, and “Strength & Tone”.
Essential: An entry level class aimed at complete beginners or people returning to exercise. You will be introduced to the Allegro 2 Reformer and shown how to safely make any adjustments which may be required during a group class. Emphasis will be given to breath control and alignment.
Stretch & Flow: These classes are aimed for those who are competent with the fundamentals on the Reformer and is a natural progression from the Essentials class. With improved flexibility, posture will be enhanced and noticeable gains in balance will be achieved.#
Strength & Tone: These classes are more challenging but a continued progression from both Essentials, and Stretch & Flow. This is the next step for members who feel confident on the Reformer and are ready to be challenged. The classes will be taught with sound layering so options will be available.
Who are the teachers?
Shanti Bhoola-Evans – Our lead consultant for the new studio, Shanti is already a super popular Hogarth Teacher and a highly experienced reformer instructor.

Cancellations
For Reformer cancellations, we ask that, out of courtesy to fellow members, you cancel the booking 24 hours in advance of your booking to free it up for another member to access. If a booking is not used or cancelled with less than 24 hours-notice, a purchased credit will be used for the member that made the booking.
Three late cancellations or no-shows in any 90 day period can result in the loss of advanced booking rights for 1 month.
The Hogarth Health Club reserves the right to pre-book facilities and restrict bookings made by members.
No Shows
If you book a reformer class and do not attend this is termed a “no-show”a credit will be still be used for the session. This credit will be automatically taken from any credits you have purchased.
If you book a Free taster and you fail to attend, this will count as a “no-show” and counts as your free class. All classes thereafter are paid sessions.
If a member doesn’t attend a class due to poor health, as spaces are limited, we do still have to use a class credit. To avoid this, please do cancel with more than 24 hours notice. Of course, if a member has a serious illness or injury and becomes unable to use their prepaid reformer sessions, they should contact the membership team Vua email at membership@thehogarth.co.uk so we can review any mitigating circumstances and establish whether an extension to the usual expiry date can be applied.
Paid Classes have an expiry date
Reformer sessions can be purchased in packages, which vary in price and the period for which they are valid. Please visit the reformer pages for class packages and expiry dates. Accordingly classes do expire if unused during the period they were purchased for.
If a member freezes their membership they cannot attend a reformer class. We have extended the expiry dates to accommodate members who freeze to allow them plenty of time and choice of quantity of sessions to be purchased to take up these sessions. It is the member’s responsibility to only purchase credits that are commensurate to the time they expect to make themselves available to attend classes.
Your membership must not lapse
Should your membership lapse, all credits will be lost. This is becuase the rate members pay is significantly less than will be available to non-members. For the avoidance of doubt, the credit value cannot be transferred to a non-member credit value.
Class packages cannot be shared
When booking a reformer class package it is important to note that the credits purchased are not transferable or shared with another user / member. For the avoidance of doubt bookings are for an individually named member and cannot be apply to a couple membership.
Lateness to classes
Out of courtesy to other class members we ask that all attendees turn up to class on time. Lateness to a class risks disturbing the flow and experience for all attendees so once a class has started, access cannot be granted and a credit will still be taken.
Access to classes
Members can only attend reformer classes in the times their membership category allows them access to the core club facilities.
Please do not try and book a class outside of your membership access times as your class credit will be lost.
Grip socks must be worn to reformer classes
For health and safety reasons, as well as good class form, Grip socks must be worn by all Reformer class attendees.
Laundered grip socks are available for Taster session only.
Can friends who aren’t members come too?
At this stage, bookings are exclusively for members to ensure we can meet demand. If availability allows in the future, non-member bookings may be introduced at approximately £35 per class, also with a discount for block bookings.
