TENNIS COURTS NOW OPEN in line with The LTA and Government guidance

This decision to open our two courts from Monday 18 May follows the adjustment of lockdown restrictions in the Prime Minister's address of Sunday 10 May, and The Lawn Tennis Associations (LTA's) discussions with Government regarding their 'Play Safe' guidelines and their "COVID-19: RETURN TO RESTRICTED PLAY Version 1"

These UPDATED guidelines (please do read if you are going to make a booking) specify that outdoor courts only are safe to open, under safe restrictions, and all other gym or social facilities must remain closed.

Please note the courts are open to members only.

BEFORE YOU BOOK AND PLAY

1. Consider whether you are ready physically and mentally to get out and onto the court. Consider your own personal risks and be able to confirm you are "fit" to play by confirming you have read and understood the Health Commitment Statement at https://www.thehogarth.co.uk/health-commitment-statement. You agree not to participate if you have any existing or new medical conditions. You understand that you exercise at your own risk and you are ultimately responsible for your own general health and wellbeing.

2. Are you experiencing COVID-like symptoms? Or have you recently been in close contact to anyone suspected or confirmed to have the virus? If so, it is absolutely vital that you stay indoors and self isolate at home to stop the spread of the virus and for you to fully recover.

WHEN AND HOW CAN I BOOK?

From Monday 18 May 9:00am, we will be opening bookings for both courts between the times of 08:00 - 20:00, on the hour, Monday - Sunday. Each session will be 50 minutes long, with 10 minutes change-over time between bookings. There will be a maximum of 2 players per court ONLY unless you are playing with your own household. It is crucial that we stick to this new protocol to adhere to Social Distancing and stay safe.

These bookings will be made via our brand new online booking system. To do so, you will first need to register your online account.

Once you have done so you can

PLEASE NOTE:

1. Your email address will be the one that you signed up to the club with or what you most recently updated us with.
2. Our rule of booking a maximum of 7 days in advance still applies.

HOW MUCH IS IT AND HOW DO I PLAY?

We will not be charging members (all of whom are on free freeze) access to our Tennis Courts whilst the Club is closed. We would like to make these available to our members (only) to support you all where we can through this time.

ON THE DAY OF YOUR BOOKING

• Double check that you have the correct day, time and court of your booking before arrival.

• Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds using soap before leaving. (Bring hand sanitizer too as below)

• Avoid using public transport.

• Arrive as close as possible to when you need to be there.

• Avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc.

• Allow others to leave before you enter the court - if you need to wait then do so away from the courts and clear of the gates.

• Ensure you leave the court before the end of your allotted time so that it is empty for the next players.

• TOILET facilities are now available at the Club!

• Do not congregate after playing. No extra-curricular or social activity should take place.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

You will need to provide all of your own equipment and make sure to clean them down before and after use. Please do not share any of your equipment. These include:

• Hand sanitizer

• Tennis racket

• Your own clearly marked tennis balls. Eg. with your initials on.

• Towel

• Full water bottle - please note you will not be able to fill this up on court so be sure to bring an ample amount.

• MAKE SURE to take all of your belongings back home with you, as these will be disposed of if left.

HOW DO I GET COURT ACCESS?

Both the front and back tennis courts will be accessible via the big green gate from the car park to the patio. Clear signage will guide you.

CAN I GET LESSONS?

Yes - individual lessons can restart. Coaches should position themselves on the other side of the net, limit the use of equipment, and use new or fresh balls for each lesson where possible. Balls that are stored for 72 hours can then be reused.

Only the coach should touch the balls, but if your serve needs a bit of work, the advice is to bring your own set of balls.

Coaches contacts are here. Please note Shane is on paternity leave (congratulations from us all) until next week.

WHEN WILL THE MAIN CLUB REOPEN?

Please note that ALL other areas and facilities of the club are still closed. They are to remain closed until further instruction has been given by the Government and we deem ourselves ready to safely reopen.

We hope you enjoy getting back on court!
