Terry's Ironman Wales 2014 challenge for Back on Track

Terry & Russ

Terry Rodham, The Hogarth's Wellness Manager has spent the last 12 months pushing himself to his limits for a truly worthy cause; the Russell Dawkins Back on Track charity. In just 13 days he will be putting his body on the line in what is known to be one of the toughest Ironman competitions in the world. On 14th September he will be competing in Ironman Wales 2014.

He has asked us to pass on his message:

"Calling all members (and friends)

Lots of you will already be aware of the Clubs ambition to have set up and continuously support Russell Dawkins charity “Back on Track”. Well…………………believe it or not, it’s been a year since the birth of Russ’s charity and also our very first fund raising event – The 24 Hour Spinathon! This event was an incredible display of support and togetherness by so many of our members, Russ’s family and friends not forgetting staff here at the club. We managed to raise just shy of 20K which is a phenomenal achievement – Thank you.

Since the Spinathon I have been quietly training away with the aim of competing in Ironman Wales 2014. This event covers 140.6 miles broken down as – 2.4 mile sea swim – 112 miles of a very hilly cycle – 26 miles of a brutal Marathon. Not nice! The event is now just around the corner and takes place on Sunday September 14.

The training and commitment for this event has been monumental, particularly as Jade informed me that “we” were pregnant just a week or two after I’d signed up to race. Not to worry eh? Russ is worth destroying my marriage for, ruining my body for and leaving my now three kids without a daddy for the best part of a year for!

In all seriousness guys, it’s been an incredible journey and a journey that many of you have been so instrumental in. You may not know that but you have – whether it be a simple smile or sitting next to me as I pedal away on the Watt bike, it has all helped motivate me.

It goes without saying that I am raising money for Russ’s charity – Back on Track so if there are any of you who would like to support my challenge and more importantly, the charity then I would be forever grateful. Click on this link: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/terryrodham1

13 days and counting!!

Sincerely grateful

Terry"
