The Hogarth Does Brentford!

What a week for Brentford.

But what was the apex for them, winning promotion to the Premier League or having a bunch of Hogarth misfits play at their stadium two days before?

We feel very proud of our partners Brentford FC who have finally reached the promise land of the Premier League as they beat Swansea 2-0 at Wembley. The last time they were in the top flight was 34 years before the Hogarth opened! Now that is a stat.

48 hours before the final Brentford hosted a football event at their ground for their partners. Other companies turned up in full kits or at least matching tops. One of The Hogarth team wore squash shoes. Our staff were spread and mixed with other teams but all represented The Hogarth with absolute top vibes.

We were the only partners to have women representing us and they put in some memorable performances. Jo Harris as ever didn’t flinch from a tackle. Ambi Devetta was always on the move making great runs, whilst Meg Cinamon was a total footballer playing right back or left midfield. And then there was Kate Thomas, she sat in the crowd and took loads of pictures.

The way flying Giles Stumpe kept goal on Thursday you can’t help but wonder that Swansea might have had a better chance if he was in goal on Saturday. With a signature disregard for his own safety he covered every blade of grass in his box. Tim Slater combined conducting Zoom meetings on the touchline with a stellar all action performance on the pitch even if he often spent more time on the floor than on his feet.

Gabs Jones caught the eye as he glided across the hallowed turf even bagging a couple of goals in slick style. Ashley Belle on the ball was excellent in the number 10 role connecting his teammates. He just regrets having to take so many centres as his side finished bottom.

Marcin our maintenance man was struggling to maintain his own heartbeat at one point as his exuberance outdid his capacity. Thankfully he was fine after having the reddest face anyone had ever seen. If he could speak he would have thanked his colleagues for their support in his hour of need. But that was after we took pictures and videos of his suffering first.

Matt Plumb was on the team sheet as Matt Plump and we cannot call him anything else from now on. He battled injury and some active opponents to typically put in a flawless shift. And finally there was me. As I get to write this I will say that I was amazing, playing in the heart of defence. Even in the game where we conceded 5 goals in 10 minutes. Life lesson: you can’t win em all.

A terrific day all round and we are genuinely proud of Brentford for their much-deserved big win on Saturday. All eyes turn to the transfer window this summer as they look to bolster their squad for the toughest league in the world. Well, they have our details..
