Tango at the Hogarth: a private view of Argentinean Art capturing the spirit of Tango by Sally Grumbridge: Tuesday 16 October 6-8pm
More than five years after a memorable trip to Buenos Aires, Chiswick artist Sally Grumbridge has assembled a new body of work inspired by Tango! The Tango of the streets and of the bars; the Tango of San Telmo and the Plaza Dorrego.
Inspired by the dance, the music, the passion and the people, Sally has spent weeks, months and years working to capture in charcoal, print and paint the essence of Tango. Departing from her normal semi-abstract style of bold colours and broad strokes, she has relied on her memories, her photographs and her experience of life drawing to produce a series of striking drawings, paintings and prints portraying tango dancers and musicians.
Sally trained in painting and printmaking at Roehampton University (BA Hons) and then studied experimental and graphic printmaking at the London College of Communication. She has had solo and group exhibitions in London, exhibiting regularly at Espacio Gallery in East London and Artists at Home Open Studios here in West London. She has also exhibited in France and Spain.
