CLUB RULES

The Hogarth Club Rules are derived from common sense, to preserve the health and safety of Club users as well as the security and viability of the Club.

If we need to make changes to these rules we will do so by notice at reception and on this website, announcement in the Express and, where appropriate, and / or by post to the last address that members have provided.

These rules are supplementary to, but incorporated in, the Terms and Conditions of your membership contract. A copy of the current terms and conditions are set out in the next section.

OPENING HOURS

Monday‐ Friday 06.00 ‐ 23.00

Saturday & Sunday 08.00 ‐ 21.00

The Gymnasium always closes 1 hour before the advertised Club closing times and the Pool, Spa, Sauna and Steam 30 minutes before the advertised Club closing times unless otherwise stated.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP

The Hogarth offers a range of memberships to suit different usage types and times as well as month by month membership where you’re not tied into a lengthy contract as well as annual membership which offers a saving as a reward for your commitment to the Club. All members of The Hogarth should read the document relevant to their membership category carefully before signing. Please ask us if there is something you would like to be explained. Click here for the various memberships available.

THE AVAILABILITY OF FACILITIES AND SERVICES

As part of our contract with members, we will use all reasonable endeavours to maintain the reasonable availability of our Core Product. This Core Product varies according to what type of membership you have and is defined in the Terms and Conditions of your membership. Copies of the Club's current terms are available for viewing or downloading on this site.

Beyond this, we do not guarantee the availability of any of our usual or advertised facilities or services, and these are subject to withdrawal at the Management's sole discretion, at any time.

In practice the Club offers enormously more than this minimum guarantee, but many of our facilities require both routine and emergency maintenance and repair that involves their closure. It is not possible to keep all of our equipment functioning by preventative maintenance alone, nor is it practicable for us to maintain availability of parts and skilled personnel sufficient for repair to be immediate. Of course, we will always do our best to return equipment to service speedily.

For example, the spa, saunas, steam room and pool will each be taken out of commission for a minimum of one week per annum for maintenance to their fabric. They may also be taken out of commission, without notice, in the event that health & safety of users would be compromised and remain unavailable until the situation has been resolved. Such a temporary withdrawal is both foreseeable and reasonable, this does not mean we have failed in our commitment to you.

It is important for members to appreciate that the Terms and Conditions of their membership provide the details of the contract with them, and nothing else. For the avoidance of doubt, any special arrangements (e.g. offered due to medical reasons) will need to be written into your contract and authorised by a Director of the Club.

MEMBERSHIP FREEZING

Members can put their memberships on hold ‐ or "freeze" ‐ subject to the rules of our Freeze Policy. This is helpful to members who travel frequently. The following general rules apply;

Members may freeze their membership as often as they wish with a minimum term of a month.

A completed form or email request must be received by the membership team a minimum of three weeks prior to the start of the freeze. Telephone applications, or applications inside the three‐week notice period, cannot be accepted.

Freezes can only be accepted in periods of a whole month.

Frozen members are permitted access to the bar, restaurant, terraces, outdoor areas and The Hogarth MediSpa and Hogarth Clinic. This also allows frozen members to attend Club events. For the avoidance of doubt the gymnasium, studios, sports courts, changing rooms and pool facilities are not accessible to frozen members. Beauty and therapy appointments can still be made.

Freezing due to medical reasons such as injury or illness is free of charge when supported by a Medical Letter and for a maximum of 4 months. Extensions can be applied with further Medical Support. We encourage pregnant members who are healthy to book in for an appointment with our Gymnasium Team who can adapt their programme so they can keep exercising safely. If, however there are medical reasons not to exercise during pregnancy then a free medical freeze can also be applied.

Members within a Couple membership may freeze individually.

Members on freeze may not be signed in as a guest or use any facilities by their partner or other Members.

The following additional rules apply for Monthly members:

There is a charge of £30 per month, per person, in place of the normal monthly rate for all membership categories except Juniors whose charge is £15 per month.

There is no need for you to cancel or adjust your Direct Debit arrangement. You will be advised by email or letter of the change to your Direct Debit.

Members within a couple or family membership may freeze individually and their Direct Debit will be adjusted accordingly.

The following additional rules apply for Annual members:

There is a fee of £30 per month, per person, in place of the normal monthly equivalent rate for all membership categories except Juniors whose charge is £15 per month.

Instead of extending your membership, we will apply an appropriate discount to the amount charged for your next renewal. If you choose not to renew your membership, you will not benefit from this credit.

For annual members, both the start and end dates must be inside your subscription year (i.e. you may not expire during a freeze period).

Every class starts with a warm‐ up and ends with a cool down. It is essential, for your own safety that you arrive in time for the warm‐up and do not leave before the cool down has ended. This also has the potential to disrupt the rest of the class. If for any reason you need to leave early, please inform the instructor before the start of the class. Where in the opinion of the instructor the class is overcrowded, they may restrict the number of participants. Where, in the opinion of the Instructor, an individual is jeopardizing the safety or enjoyment of other participants they will be asked to leave.

If you are using any of the studio equipment, please be kind enough replace it and wipe it clean before leaving the studio.

The Personal Trainers are solely responsible to determine the suitability of any individual to make use of the gymnasium. For a small minority it may be necessary to undergo further medical examination by his/her medical practitioner. Any associated costs are the responsibility of the member.

ONLY Personal Trainers employed by The Hogarth Club may work in the gymnasium. Members are not permitted to invite their own, external Personal Trainers or any other external trainers to attend the Club for the purpose of fitness or exercise instruction. SWIMMING POOL, SPA, SAUNA AND STEAM

Swimming Pool Policy

• For the safety and comfort of all members, please observe the following:

• The wet area is in operation according to club opening times.

• The pool will be unavailable for swimming during aqua aquarobics, the times of such

activities are on our studio timetable.

• No running, jumping or diving is permitted in the pool.

• No food or drink may be consumed in the pool hall with the exception of water bottles.

• Mobile phones are prohibited in the Pool Hall.

• Music will only be played in the pool hall during Aquarobics classes.

Sauna & Steam Rooms

The principal benefit of the Sauna and Steam Room is relaxation. The deep warmth and feeling of lassitude combined with one or more showers and rest periods should give the user a pleasant, mellow feeling. The heat also creates ideal conditions for skin toning and cleansing.

The effect of the hot‐cool‐hot sensation allows the skin pores to open and close to extreme, flushing out surface impurities and leaving the skin thoroughly refreshed.

Do not use your own oils or essences in the Steam Room or Sauna as other users may be allergic and it could present a burn hazard.

The chief fallacy surrounding these facilities is that they promote weight loss. The only weight loss experienced will be that of fluids. These will subsequently be replaced when a drink is consumed.

Use of these facilities is not recommended in the following cases:

• Soon after a moderate or heavy meal.

• During pregnancy.

• If suffering from circulatory disorders such as Angina, Heart Disease or High Blood Pressure.

SPORTS COURTS

For the safety and enjoyment of all Members, please observe the following:

• Do not walk across courts when play is in progress.

• Return stray balls to courts as soon as points are completed.

• Leave your court promptly when reserved time has expired and others are waiting to play.

• High standards of conduct are expected at all times.

• Appropriate tennis attire, including proper tennis shoes with non‐marking soles must be worn. Shirts are required.

• If a reserved court is not occupied fifteen minutes after the scheduled starting time, the court will be assigned to waiting players on a first‐come, first‐served basis.

• Members should consult the limitation of liability statement in their membership contract for further information.

• No beverage glasses are permitted on sports courts. Water bottles are encouraged.

HEALTH & SAFETY

You may only use the main entrance of the club when entering or leaving. Fire Exits are there in the interests of safety and must not be interfered with or used to exit/enter the club. Please read the health and safety notices posted outside any facility and comply with their recommendations. You should comply with any reasonable requests made by staff in relation to matters of health and safety including fire evacuations.
