20th Chiswick House Dog Show
Sunday 22nd September 2024 - 20th Chiswick House Dog Show
We're excited to announce that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Chiswick House Dog Show! Over the years the event has grown into one of West London's most popular community gatherings, and attracts thousands of visitors - with or without dogs. The show is held on the Chiswick House cricket pitch with the aim to raise funds for the upkeep and maintenance of the grounds.
Organized by a committee of local dog owners, including multiple members from The Hogarth Club, the success of this event relies heavily on the support of a dedicated team of volunteers. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or new to the community, The Chiswick House Dog Show invites you to lend a hand and be part of a fantastic day.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS
As the show has grown in popularity over the years, so too has the need for volunteers. The success of the event is dependent on a large ‘pack’ of volunteers willing to turn their hands to just about anything! The day kicks off with 35 volunteers setting up the show, including directing 72 stallholders and their vehicles to set up gazebos, flags, signs, move tables, chairs and boxes on and off the cricket pitch.
Before the show starts at 10:30am, additional volunteers are needed to set up the registration, information, and volunteers’ desks, the ‘Green Room, the ’Dog-Bola' Stall and the Dog Show Bar. Once the event has ended, even more volunteers are needed to dismantle everything and return the ground back to normal by 7pm.
VOLUNTEER ROLES
On the day of the show, volunteers take on various essential roles. Three competition rings are managed by volunteer judges, marshals, ring stewards, and runners, while our volunteer phoDOGraphers capture the official photos of the day. Show Stewards also known as Dogsbodies, help visitors, hand out programmes, keep dogs staying hydrated, restocks toilet rolls and manage recycling and rubbish.
There are also some roles exclusively for children, and like the adult volunteers, many have become regulars. One of our young volunteers started helping at the age of 8 and now 18 and back from university to help again!
