REOPENING FAQS

Below you can find our extensive list of FAQs on reopening structured by each club department. We very much look forward to warmly welcoming our members back safely to continue supporting their mental and physical wellbeing.

GENERAL

Upon arrival to the club, you will see social distancing signage and floor markings incase you will need to queue. Reception will have glass screens and a foot operated sanitisation station, which will be mandatory to use when entering the club. The Reception team will be counting visitors to manage capacity and members will now self-tap on entry. We’ve also created a new one-way system around the club to minimise contact with others. Bookings can now be made online in advance here or over the phone and payments will be card only. For full safety information, please see our full reopening video here.

UPDATE 2
It is now mandatory that all staff wear PPE at all times while in the club - a face mask and/or a face visor. For Personal Trainers undergoing an Octagon Health or Fitness test, gloves will be worn also throughout the appointment to keep you extra safe.

Find our full COVID secure protocols in this video:

Outdoor exercise classes are also good to go, so we are working on a new timetable for this to complement our existing online Zoom Timetable. Tennis will recommence as per the LTA’s latest guidelines. Please note that all facilities will be bookable online 8 days before they reopen.

The Government will consider whether all remaining legal limits on social contact can be lifted.

In certain areas where governing bodies are still awaiting approval and research is deemed inconclusive by the Hogarth management, a more  precautionary approach to the government may be taken. We will, for example, bring news on the return of squash, sauna and steam rooms in the coming weeks.

The Prime Minister also stressed that timelines associated with each step are still indicative, and the nation's ability to move on to any future stage in the exit plan will therefore be contingent on meeting their stringent tests.

Health clubs and fitness facilities following Covid Secure Protocols such as The Hogarth are able to fully reopen in Tier 2 and even Tier 3 unlike other hospitality businesses where extra restrictions exist. This is because exercise has been confirmed as an 'essential service'. Hooray!

CLASSES
Can continue as we follow strict COVID secure protocols. Online bookings, socially distanced markers, limited capacity, extra cleaning and live streaming (for the majority of classes) enable us to limit mixing and potential spread of the virus.

New guidelines state that bars can stay open until 11pm, last orders being 10pm. Drinkers can only be served when also ordering a substantial meal with their alcohol. We strongly recommend that you book your indoor table or outdoor heated pod in advance with Natalia at nataliar@thehogarth.co.uk.

Yes, since phase 1 of reopening, we have been able to accommodate all visitors. If the club is busier than expected, then we might need to switch to booking a visit to the club online. In this case, we will contact all members prior to this change. We encourage all members to book their tennis court, swim, spa pool. outdoor gym pod, changing room and class online here. For those of you that are not so technologically savvy, you can give us a call on 020 8995 4600, where we would be happy to assist.

Please note that bookings for the swimming pool, spa pool, changing rooms, tennis, BodyPump and Group Cycle are essential.

We can safely have a maximum of 24 participants in Studio 1 and 12 participants in studio 2. If your class is full, we are live streaming the majority of our indoor studio classes on The Hogarth Zoom, which you can do from home. Watch how this works here. Because the capacity in Studio 2 is more limited, we recommend booking all Studio 2 classes in advance. You can do this online here or over the phone on 020 8995 4600.

Not immediately when we reopen. We will be monitoring capacity over the first week or two and will update members when we are confident we can keep both members and guests safe in the club. All guest passes will be extended to when we are able to allow guests back to use the facilities with you.

UPDATE 2
We are now allowing members to bring in guests but must call Reception to request in advance so we can continue to control numbers - 020 8995 4600.

Access to our showers and changing rooms will only be for those who have pre-booked a swim or spa pool 30 minute session. If you aren’t using the pools, we ask that you come ready changed, and prepare to shower at home.

UPDATE 2
Upon evaluation of the club, we are confident that we can safely open up more spaces in the changing rooms. There are now 4 male and 4 female bookable spaces every 30 minutes. These are separate to Swimming Pool and Spa Pool bookings and only allow a shower and change. Please continue to arrive ready changed and only book a changing room slot for after our workout. Go to bit.ly/hogarthmemberlogin to book!

UPDATE 3 (29/09/21)
Spa Pool bookings are now in 15 minute slots.

In line with government guidelines, only those with a swim or spa pool booking will have access to the changing room and lockers. In light of this, temporary pigeonholes to store outdoor clothing and small bags will be available in the kinesis room (adjacent to the gym). For personal effects such as keys, phone, we have over 100 small lockers that require a small padlock. Padlocks can be purchased from reception for £5 - no cash is currently acceepted. Those with personal lockers upstairs or in the corridor to Studio 2 will not be able to use their personal lockers.

Please contact JuliaA@thehogarth.co.uk for further information on Personal Lockers.

No. We encourage members to use the towels we provide at reception. Our towel provider cleans and sanitises all towels, and we have worked closely with them to minimise the contact chain. We will be offering 1 towel per person to members using the club with the exception of swimmers who are welcome to use 2. After your session at the club, please then dispose of these towels using the towel bins provided in the changing rooms, outdoor and indoor gym and Studios 1 and 2.

Yes, but please use the toilets nearest to you. For example, if you are in The Medispa for an appointment, please use their designated toilet upstairs in the spa. These will be cleaned thoroughly throughout the day and overnight although medical grade cleaning products are availbale for you own use too. Please be sure to thoroughly wash your hands for at least 20 seconds after use.

UPDATE 2

LOCKDOWN 1
When we closed our doors on 20 March, your membership was automatically frozen and no further charges made. As we still owed you 11 days of membership, these will be credited as 7 days from the date of reopening and the remaining 4 days will be deducted from your next membership subscription payment. Your membership will be automatically re-activated from 25th July, you don’t need to do anything. The first payment for your membership will be collected on 1st August.

Direct debits will be restarted on the 2nd December. As you have 27 days of credit from November and one day in December, we will reduce the fee to charge just 3 days total for December.  For those of you that used the online classes during lockdown, the additional class payment of £25 will be automatically added.

You can talk to one of the membership team between 9 - 5pm during the week by asking to be transferred from Reception 020 8995 4600 or email them at membership@thehogarth.co.uk

As we did back in December 2020 (Tier 4), our default position will be to put all members on a free freeze until the main club reopens, so there is no need to do anything at this point.

However, we do understand how much many of you are missing the Club, so will provide the option to enjoy our outdoor facilities at 50% of your usual membership rate from 29th March - subject to availability. Your attendance to the Club or making a booking will trigger the fee.

For those that aren't able to attend, we still have our online classes option which, if taken up alone, remain chargeable at just £25 per month. By attending a class, the £25 fee will be automatically triggered.

GYM

We have completely redesigned and reconfigured the gym to maximise social distancing and go above and beyond government guidelines. Where equipment is less than 2 metres apart, we have installed glass screens for ultimate safety. Sanitisation stations and cleaning equipment will be located around the gym for you to wipe your equipment down before and after use for extra peace of mind. All of our free weights have been relocated to our outdoor gym to safely distance from others. On top of this, we have invested in a medical grade UV sanitising robot that will be used every single night in the gym. Watch Helios in action here.

UPDATE 2
We now have a small amount of free weights indoors incase the weather doesn't permit exercising outdoors. Sanitisation products will still be available to clean your freeweights before and after use for extra safety.

It is now mandatory that all staff are in PPE - a face mask and/or a face visor for extra protection.

Since we reopened, we have been able to welcome members back and use the gym without booking. However, we will be monitoring numbers and demand and if we find too many people are in the club at one time we are able to switch to Gym Bookings. If this is the case we will email all members that we need to do so.

Personal Training sessions will continue, with the trainers at a safe distance, in a face mask or a visor and with zero hands-on contact. Your Personal Trainer will be their to guide you safely through your session. With our many spacious training areas such as the indoor Gym, outdoor Gym, Kinesis studio and HIIT studio - we are confident that Personal Training is safe to do. We would like to encourage all members to book their complimentary monthly PT session with Reception - 020 8995 4600.

The kinesis room will be mainly open for stretching with easy clean mats we ask you to clean after use. Other equipment will be very limited to reduce possible virus transmission. In here we also have our new temporary pigeonholes for members to store outdoor clothing and small bags, as well as small padlocked lockers for personal effects. This is to reduce the amount of members we have in the Changing rooms at one time.

CLASSES

All indoor studio classes have been marked out to provide at least 4 square metres of space between each member for extra caution. The majority of these classes will also be live streamed, so if you need to, you can follow along at home in real time. Classes will be equipment-free for phase 1. Classes such as BodyPump will be introduced when we are confident we can safely do so.* Members will have to bring their own yoga mats and blocks. High intensity classes such as HIIT or Group Cycle will be held outside with at least 2 metres social distancing between each participant. Classes will be shortened so the House Keeping Team can perform a full cleaning and sanitising of all surfaces between each class, supported by Helios (our UV sanitising robot) for total safety.
